The National Velodrome in Sangalhos, Anadia, is once again at the heart of European track cycling as it hosts the 2025 UEC Track Juniors and Under-23 European Championships, taking place from 15 to 20 July.

Over six days of high-level racing, a record number of 458 athletes from 30 countries will compete for 44 European titles across 11 categories, making this the most attended edition in the history of the championships.

Italy (56), Germany (50) and Poland (48) lead the list of participating nations by number of riders, followed by France and Great Britain, each with 34. Host nation Portugal will field 11 riders — six women and five men — across the junior and under-23 categories.

The event features two competition sessions per day. The opening day begins on Tuesday, with morning qualifying from 10:30 and finals taking place between 17:30 and 20:50. From Wednesday to Sunday, racing will run from 10:00 to 21:30, with a break between sessions.

“Hosting a European Championship in Portugal has a very positive impact on the development of the discipline,” says national coach Gabriel Mendes. “It allows more athletes to take part, gives them international experience, and helps bring the track cycling community closer together.”

Tickets are available on-site, with prices ranging from €10 (day ticket) to €40 (full event pass). Licensed riders benefit from a 50% discount on the daily ticket, while Anadia residents can collect free tickets by presenting proof of residence.

Live coverage and updates are available via the social media channels of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, the UEC, and the official website.
