The second day of the 2025 UEC Track Juniors & U23 European Championships, in Anadia, was highlighted by a new world record set by Great Britain in the Junior Women’s Team Pursuit.

The British quartet — Mae Phoebe Taylor, Grace Abigail Miller, Erin Boothman, and Evie Smith — claimed the gold medal with a time of 4:20.376, setting a new world best in the discipline.

In the Junior Men’s Team Pursuit, Italy once again stood out, taking gold with 3:55.635 after a thrilling final against Great Britain, who took silver. Germany secured the bronze medal.

Wednesday’s programme also crowned the champions in the Junior Men’s 1km Time Trial. Leonidas Rekowski (Germany) became European Champion with a time of 1:02.118, ahead of Dmitrii Pavlovskii (AIN) and Julius Porthun (Germany), who completed the podium.

In the bunch races, the U23 Women’s Scratch Race was won by Messane Bräutigam (Germany), followed by Sara Fiorin (Italy) with silver and Laura Auerbach-Lind (Denmark) with bronze. In the Men’s Scratch, Davide Stella (Italy) took the win ahead of Lucas Menanteau (France) and Karsten Feldmann (Norway).

The evening continued with the exciting Junior Men’s Elimination Race, where Heimo Fugger (Austria) claimed the title, beating Matvei Iakovlev and Ilya Slesarenko (both from AIN), before the Team Sprint finals brought the day to a close. Italy won the U23 Men’s Team Sprint, defeating Czechia in the final, while Poland took gold in the U23 Women’s Team Sprint, ahead of Great Britain.

The UEC Track Juniors & U23 European Championships continue on Thursday at the National Velodrome in Sangalhos, with more titles on the line and Europe’s rising stars fighting for continental glory.
